Main Books Page | Overseas Editions

Steve's long awaited new book on the most recent research on nursery school (childcare in Australia, daycare in the US) and the harmful effects on the under three age group's brain development and development of empathy and trust.

Raising Babies - Should Under Threes Go To Nursery? is being released by Harpercollins in early March. Steve will visit the UK for the launch March 5- 12th. Contact Thorsons publicity at Harpercollins London to arrange interviews.

The book builds on Steve's early concerns about the deficiencies of group care even in quality childcare and nursery settings, and hundreds of conversations with carers, directors, parents and other professionals, visits to facilities; as well as a laypersons guide to the avalanche of recent research showing damaged social development in children who enter nursery "too much, too early, too long". It gives an easy to read and illuminating look into new brain research that shows what happens between parent and infant in a loving relationship, that is itself worthwhile for any parent to read.

Overseas (non-UK) parents can source the book through amazon.co.uk from March 2006.
